AUTUMN IN THE CHURCHYARD

Recently a hardy group of volunteers met to complete the Autumn lawn treatments on the St Giles memorial lawns. In case you are wondering what this consists of it is the following.

* Application a few weeks before hand of an Autumn weed and feed.
• Scarification to remove dead grass, thatch and moss.
• Aeration of lawn to break up compacted soil.
• Application of top dressing comprising sand, loam and compost. This helps with drainage, moss prevention and water retention.

In doing this work each year we appreciate that the Memorial Gardens are very important places to many families in our community and we are very committed to maintaining them to the highest standard. A huge thank you to all those who helped with this lawn work alongside the gathering and raking up of Autumn leaves!

Also, there are certainly some jobs the clergy undertake that may not be in their job description. The two photos to the right above show Matthew attending to the clergy vestry roof at one of our Tuesday morning working parties.
