From a very English perspective, we couldn't have asked for better weather. It was neither too hot nor too cold, creating the perfect conditions for visitors to relax, linger and enjoy everything the fête had to offer. The refreshments proved as popular as ever. Every burger and hot dog sold out, while the Pimms and Aperol flowed throughout the afternoon. Our delicious homemade cakes disappeared in no time, and the crêpes remained a firm favourite, alongside bowls of fresh strawberries.

This year's fête was officially opened by Farnborough May Queen, Ellie James, who, together with her attendants, delighted the crowd with the traditional maypole dance—a wonderful celebration of a much-loved English custom. The Sevenoaks and Tonbridge Band enjoyed a new location beside the greenhouse, which proved to be an excellent choice. Their music provided the perfect soundtrack to a quintessential English summer fête. Joe Peek's Punch & Judy show entertained young and old alike, encouraging plenty of enthusiastic audience participation, while the talented performers from Dance Off Studio once again impressed with their outstanding displays. The infectious enthusiasm and uplifting performance from the Rock Choir perfectly captured the spirit of the day, bringing smiles to faces throughout the afternoon. No fête would be complete without our wonderful compère, Lee Bellamy, whose humour, warmth and boundless enthusiasm kept visitors entertained and ensured the day's events ran smoothly.

Behind the scenes we had Helen Rendell: Entertainments Manager, Linda Crisp: Finance Manager and our Field Marshall: Andrew Bailey. Thanks must go to Andew Ward who managed to oversee the children’s games almost single handed, juggling Hook a Duck, Treasure Hunt, Hoopla and Tin Can Alley. An event like this is only possible thanks to the generosity and hard work of so many people. Our sincere thanks go to everyone who gave their time and energy to help run stalls and games or prepare and serve refreshments—especially Frazer Rendell, who tirelessly and extremely good humouredly kept the barbecue going throughout the day. We are also grateful to everyone who lent gazebos, helped with the considerable task of setting up and dismantling stalls, tables and chairs, and to Farnborough Primary School for once again kindly lending us its many chairs.

Thank you, too, to everyone who came along to support the fête and make it such a memorable occasion. We are equally grateful to our generous donors for providing prizes, vouchers, plants and books, and to our sponsors, whose support ensured we began the day in profit. The success of the fete is a testament to the wonderful community spirit that makes Farnborough such a special place. We look forward to welcoming everyone back again next year.
